“3 Questions” w/ Erica Cenci & Sara Davidson
By Justin Goldsborough | April 25th, 2010
I made the trip up to Omaha this week to speak at the IABC Omaha/Lincoln social media bootcamp. My favorite part about events like this one is not the presentation itself, but the new people I meet. As my friend Angie Swaartz (@angieswartz) once said, there are always at least a few standouts at each conference that make you really glad you went. In this case, there were too many to list. And luckily I had the chance to sit down with two of them — Erica Cenci (@echandler) and Sara Davidson (@saradavidson) — at the end of the day for “3 Questions” (Actually, I asked more like four or five questions, but the segment is called “3 Questions” so, well…there you have it :)).
Erica and Sara led one of the afternoon breakout sessions at the bootcamp. Their topic was nonprofits and how they can integrate social media into their current PR plans to raise awareness and funds. Besides being two up-and-coming PR rock stars, Sara and Erica are behind founding the new Omaha Social Media Club chapter, which is definitely worth checking out if you live in the Omaha/Lincoln area.
Without further ado, here are Sara’s and Erica’s thoughts on social media for nonprofits, social media trends, the rise of mobile and location-based services like Foursquare. Here are the questions I asked in case you want to answer or provide feedback on the answers given in the video:
- How can nonprofits use social media to increase awareness and funds?
- Can you share an example of a nonprofit that’s doing this well?
- What did the audience seem to latch onto most in your presentation?
- What social media trends are you watching out for?
