A birthday wish we can all help come true
By Justin Goldsborough | November 3rd, 2009

@JasonStoddard has a great idea for a birthday present, but he needs our help to wrap it. How can we help? Just tweet your birthday day and month to him. That’s it. And then watch on your birthday for the chance to be part of something.
So what’s this all about? Well, have you ever seen a friend make a birthday wish through Facebook causes? You know, the person picks a cause and then says instead of sending me something on my birthday, please make a small donation to my charity of choice instead. Well, Jason wants to bring that concept to Twitter, incorporate the new lists feature and watch as the gifts roll in. He’s even got a hashtag in mind — #Iamsovereign.
Starting now, Jason is building lists. He’s looking for 500 people per list, 365 lists. Then starting Dec. 3, 500 people per day will get a message early on their birthday asking them to chip in for a cause/charity randomly chosen by three people on the list. There’s no annual fee, no required participation…just an opportunity to give a gift on your birthday or in someone else’s name on their day. It’s a chance to be a part of something.
I’ve never met Jason before, never even tweeted with him. And without social media, I’d have no idea about his plan to change birthdays as we know them. But now we’ve got a chance to make some birthday wishes come true. And I hope you’ll join us at the party.
