‘3 Questions’ with VML social media guru Mike Lundgren
By Justin Goldsborough | October 30th, 2008
Justin case you were wondering…YouTube streams more than 1 billion videos a day. It’s also the third most recognized brand online. These are just a couple of the things I learned a couple of weeks back when I heard VML social media guru Mike Lundgren speak at the Oct. 16 KC/IABC lunch.
Make sure to check out the “3 Questions” I filmed with Mike after his presentation.
And here’s a few additional key factoids from his presentation that you’ll want to add to your list.
- Mike: “Who you are is increasingly becoming who you are online.”
- Mike asked who has a Facebook profile. Almost the whole room raised their hands. Then he asked who had one a year ago. About 20 percent.
- Facebook is largest photo sharing site around.
- Marshalls has a blog called Open House that’s run by super users. Their compensation is prestige, ability to reference their biz.
- Mike talked about the Obama campaign’s use of social media. No matter who you’re voting for, the numbers below are astounding and the impact social media, especially video sharing, has had on Obama’s campaign can’t be ignored. Btw, apparently Ad Age agreed since they recently chose Obama’s social media team as “Marketer of the Year.”

Great numbers there for Barak vs. Hillary. I haven’t seen that chart before. Thanks for sharing, Justin!
